Steps from the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, and Victoria & Albert, The Kensington is also within a short distance from many other London attracting and top shopping.
Made up of four 19th-century townhouses, The Kensington evokes a sense of Victorian grandeur with high ceilings, rich decor (quintessentially British, without being stuffy), open fireplaces and a wrought iron staircase – all in a subtle contrast with contemporary design details. Despite its stately appearance, the entire property feels warm and cozy along with an effortless, caring and attentive service
The Town House Restaurant consists of three charming rooms, brightly furnished with fabrics and rugs and offering both a traditional and modern design. The division of the rooms also allows the Town House to transform whether for breakfast, tea or dinner. The British-based menu at lunch and dinner is hearty and wholesome, with a good balance between fish and meats, most of them British. Breakfast may be improved, especially for the selection of the buffet and more staff at peak times.
Afternoon tea at The Kensington has earned an exceptional reputation for the innovative seasonal themed approach – at the time of my stay, it was inspired by a trip around the world. The Afternoon Tea is served in the beautiful Drawing Room with an exquisite collection of savoury and sweet treats which are a feast both for the eyes and the palates.
The Rare Tea Company is an independent tea brand based in London. Founded in 2004 by Henrietta Lovell, it sources and supplies the world’s very best teas. Henrietta travels the globe seeking out tea-gardens who are developing the most delicious leaves. By sourcing directly from the farmers, she secures unique harvests and ensures that they are crafted using sustainable practices to benefit both the land and the people who live on it. Many of these teas are very rare
And if you are after a more decadent drink, the K Bar is the place with exceptional cocktails and an impressive and expansive wine list. The ambience of the hotel’s cocktail bar is set by its sleek, yet elegant décor: lacquered oak panels, polished brass accents, mirrored walls and slate floor. The bar is also popular with locals, n0n-hotel guests, especially those who frequent nearby attractions.
The Kensington Hotel is proudly affiliated with the Royal Albert Hall, offering hotel guests tickets and special packages to attend various performances throughout the year. With so many exciting performances to look forward, there is also a specially designed pre-theatre set menu that will not only have you out in time for curtain call but deliver some of our finest culinary delights.
The 150 rooms and suites are spacious and beautifully appointed, with the same blend of classic British and contemporary. The hotel which is part of the privately owned Irish based Doyle Collection, has been conceived by putting together three townhouse Victorian buildings, hence the variety in layout and style. Suites are opulent, with statement headboards, drape curtains and very comfortable beds.
In London, the Doyle Collection also owns The Bloomsbury and The Marylebone
