Lot 57: Domenick Capobianco, Color Field, Oil on Canvas

Estimate: $2,000 – $4,000

As always, Showplace has prepared some outstanding examples of abstract artwork. This bright, colorful piece was painted by the American artist Domenick Capobianco, whose work has already appeared in the previous editions of the auction. The abstract oil painting in the artist’s signature style will add a splash of color to your interior design and make a valuable contribution to your collection.

Lot 16: Mel Ramos, “Vantage Red,” Collotype Print, 1972

Estimate: $1,500 – $2,500

Mel Ramos was an American artist, mostly known for depicting nude women. His vintage style, reminiscent of pin-up art, helped him gain recognition in the 60s. This print, depicting a nude woman next to a pack of cigarettes, signed by the artist himself, is both a great collectible and a design piece. Other works by Ramos are also available for sale at the auction.

Lot 27: Erte, “Perfume,” Patinated Bronze Sculpture, 1984

Estimate: $1,500 – $2,500

Erte, also known under his birth name Romain de Tirtoff, was an artist and designer, who lived a long and inspired life. An illustrator, sculptor, costume and fashion designer, he undeniably left a mark on the visual culture of his time. This bronze sculpture, created in the late days of the master’s career, is a vibrant example of the Art Deco style. While mostly a thing of the past in the 80s, the influence of Art Deco was still palpable in Erte’s work, as he was one of its first and most prominent representatives.

Lot 25: Michael & Frances Higgins, Modern Glass Mobile

Estimate: $1,000 – $2,000

Glass-fusing pioneers and talented visual artists, Michael and Frances Higgins were known for combining bold colors and shapes in their designs. Their beautiful and functional pieces, which they often signed as “Higgins,” are now highly valued by collectors. Higgins created a series of kinetic sculptures made of glass, inspired by the simplistic aesthetics of Kandinsky and the hanging mobiles of Alexander Calder.

Lot 13: Takashi Murakami, “If Only I Could Do This,” Litho

Estimate: $1,000 – $2,000

Takashi Murakami does not require an introduction. He is one of the most prolific and expensive contemporary artists. Murakami’s unique original characters are loved all over the world and are used in designs by luxury fashion brands. The featured lithograph, “If Only I Could Do This, If Only I Could Do That,” combines the artist’s poignant sensibility with his signature whimsical, cartoon-like style.
