”Ultra-luxury” hotel brand, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has opened no less than 4 properties in Europe in the past 10 years. After the debut of Rosewood London in 2013 (previously a property flagged under the Renaissance Hotels brand of Marriott International), the company secured the management of the Ferragamo family owned Tuscan resort of Castiglion del Bosco in 2015.
In 2017, Rosewood Hotels took over the management of the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris (owned by Prince Mutaib bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud). With spectacularly renovated and restored interiors, the hotel is firmly committed to directly compete with the heavyweights of the city such as The Ritz Paris, Le Bristol or Hôtel Plaza Athénée.
In 2022, Rosewood Hotels opened in Vienna, managing a property housed in a former bank. The property has had a bold and ambitious approach to rank among the city’s top luxury hotels – the iconic Sacher Hotel (praised as a luxury institution) the Hotel Imperial (Luxury Collection) or Park Hyatt Vienna, one of the finest Park Hyatt branded properties in the world.
Last month, Rosewood Hotels opened Rosewood Munich, a property owned by Arabella Hospitality Group. According to several media outlets, authorities in Germany have raided several hotels to find staff employed illegally (mostly in housekeeping) including at Rosewood Munich. The property has responded immediately by firmly denying of being aware of such practices by its contracted third party supplier.
During the inspection of 163 hotels and guesthouses throughout Germany on November 30, authorities verified whether the employers were complying with their social security obligations, employing illegal workers and paying the minimum wage. A nationwide industry minimum wage has been in force since October 1, 2022.
