Amazon has signed a high-profile podcast deal with a series hosted by popular NFL players and brothers Travis and Jason Kelce, marking a further foray by the tech giant into the audio entertainment industry.
Amazon on Tuesday announced that Wondery, its podcast studio and publisher, had clinched a deal with New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce, a sports and lifestyle podcast hosted by the two siblings. American football star Travis Kelce is also known for being in a relationship with music star Taylor Swift.
Wondery will have exclusive rights to distribute and monetise audio and video episodes of the podcast, which is about to begin its third season. The deal was reported by local media as being worth about $100mn and spanning three years.
Amazon previously bought rights to the Smartless podcast, in a deal reportedly worth tens of millions of dollars, before the actor-led show moved to SiriusXM this year. The company recently announced a deal for actor Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast.
